The World Fishing & Outdoor Exposition returns to the SUNY Rockland Community College Fieldhouse in Suffern, N.Y. from March 1-4

Dover, NH – February 23, 2012 – Get geared up for the spring season during the World Fishing & Outdoor Fishing Exposition, the only fishing and outdoor expo in the metro New York area, being held March 1-4, at the SUNY Rockland Community College Fieldhouse in Suffern, New York. Presented by Stihl, the expo is the best opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts in the metroNew York City area to stock up on the latest fishing, hunting and outdoor gear while also taking advantage of the seminars and sessions with some of the nation’s top anglers and hunters.

 

“The World Fishing & Outdoor Exposition is the only sports show in the New York area where you can find all the major outdoor brands offered by hundreds of exhibitors, both manufacturers and retail,” said Show DirectorPaul Fuller. “In addition, we have a large number of exciting activities and educational seminars that will inform and entertain outdoor enthusiasts of all ages.”

Want to get up close and personal with some of our planet’s most interesting animals? The Two By Two Zoo, founded in 1993 by the Iannucci family, have adopted a variety of species that they take on the road. The Two By Two Zoo travels throughout the Northeast educating people of all ages about exotic animals such as kangaroos, lemurs and alligators. This is a “don’t miss” opportunity for the children.

 

Another unique feature of the show is the Talons! Birds of Prey demonstration and education display that helps demonstrate the unique hunting skills of raptors. Your entire family will definitely be entranced by this amazing demonstration presented by master falconer Lorrie Schumacher. You’ll be able to get up close and personal with live falcons, hawks and owls as Schumacher explains how important birds of prey are in our outdoor ecosystem.

 

Exclusive to the Suffern show is our 5,000 gallon “Hawg Trough” fish tank that is loaded with monster largemouth bass. Some of the nation’s top pro anglers will demonstrate the latest lures and techniques to help you land “the big one.” The “Hawg Trough,” made of see through material, is a great way to see how lures and fish interact in the water.

 

For saltwater anglers, Saturday, March 3, is Saltwater Superday with a continuous series of saltwater fishing seminars presented by many of the region’s greatest saltwater anglers. Also, Sunday, March 4, is Whitetail Superday with a number of the region’s great hunting experts conducting a full slate of seminars throughout the day. The Expo also has a full slate of seminars taught by notable professional anglers and hunters including bass professional Lou Consoli; renowned underwater photographer Mike Laptew; and Capt. Greg Dubrule, Capt. Pete Meyers and Rich Johnson offering their expertise of how to land the big one. The expo also features outdoor writer C.J. Finally, the expo is a great place to bring the children. Whether it’s panning for gemstones, fighting for the “big one” on the virtual fishing simulator or participating in our other child-friendly activities, the World Fishing & Outdoor Expo makes it a priority that children have a great time at the expo. In fact, Sunday, March 4, is Family Day when children 11 and under are admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult. Family Day also includes a fun scavenger hunt where children can receive a prize by visiting attractions on the show floor and getting their checklist stamped.

The World Fishing & Outdoor Exposition hours are Thursday, March 1, 2:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.; Friday, March 2, 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.; Saturday, March 3, 9:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.; and Sunday, March 4, 9:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

 

Admission is $12.00 for adults and $3.00 for children aged 5-11. Children under five are admitted free. A portion of the ticket sales goes to fund KeepAmericaFishing, which is the American Sportfishing Association’s angler advocacy campaign that is devoted to keeping our nation’s waters clean, restoring fish populations and open to recreational fishing
